CMS157v13: Oncology: Medical and Radiation - Pain Intensity Quantified

Percentage of patient visits, regardless of patient age, with a diagnosis of cancer currently receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy in which pain intensity is quantified

Numerator

Patient visits in which pain intensity is quantified. Follow the below steps:

  • On any visit for this patient, click on the “More” button to the left of the vital area
  • select the “Pain Scale” tab.
  • Use the slider to score the pain.
    • Note: You must use the slider to score pain. You cannot type the number.
  • Click “Save” when done. 

Denominator

All patient visits, regardless of patient age, with a diagnosis of cancer currently receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy. There are two populations for this measure:

  1. Population 1: All Patient visits, regardless of age, with a diagnosis of cancer currently receiving chemotherapy
  2. Population 2: All Patient visits, regardless of age, with a diagnosis of cancer currently receiving radiation therapy

Patient must have a diagnosis of “Cancer” in their problem list

For Population 1: Patient must have “Chemo” in either the Plan or the Assessment fields

For Population 2: Patient must have “Radiation Therapy” in either the Plan or the Assessment fields
