CMS75v14: Children Who Have Dental Decay or Cavities
Percentage of children, ages 1 - 20 years of age at the start of the measurement period, who have had dental decay or cavities during the measurement period as determined by a dentist *Inverse Measure: Lower Score indicates better performance
Note: This measure can only be completed by a dentist
Numerator
Children who had a diagnosis of cavities or decayed teeth overlapping the measurement period
A diagnosis of “Dental Caries” is added to the patient problem list. The following diagnoses apply:
- K02.3
- K02.51
- K02.52
- K02.53
- K02.61
- K02.62
- K02.63
- K02.7
- K02.9
Denominator
Children, ages 1 year - 20 years of age, with a clinical oral evaluation during the measurement period
Note: Only dental billing codes apply to this measure. General medical exam codes do not qulaify
Exclusions:
Exclude patients who are in hospice care or have a hospice care order documented during any part of the measurement period:
- Patients in Hospice care: Identified in the patient's Alerts and Directives, located in the demographic screen or the Summary Sheet, in the name, text or comments saved with that alert/directive. The Alert/Directive should include either of the following phrases:
- palliative
- hospice
- Order for Hospice Care:
- In the Write Orders Screen, add and order for Hospice Care. The order name or comments of the order must contain the phrase "Hospice"
