How to Adjust Font Size in Citrix Workspace
If text inside your Citrix session looks too small or slightly blurry, one setting will bring it back in line with the rest of your computer.
Windows lets you make everything on screen a little larger — that's the display scaling setting most people adjust when text feels too small. By default, Citrix Workspace ignores it, so anything running inside your Citrix session keeps its original size while the rest of your desktop looks bigger. The result is a session with noticeably smaller, sometimes fuzzy-looking text.
The fix is to tell Citrix to follow your Windows settings instead. You only need to do this once, and it takes about two minutes.
Before you begin
| Applies to | Citrix Workspace on Windows |
| Time needed | About 2 minutes |
| Access required | None — this is a setting on your own computer |
| Heads up | You'll need to close and reopen your Citrix session at the end, so save your work first |
Step by step
Show your hidden icons
Look at the bottom-right corner of your screen, near the clock. Click the small upward arrow (^) to open the tray of hidden icons.
Find the Citrix Workspace icon
In the tray that opens, look for the round blue Citrix Workspace icon (marked 2 in the picture above).
Right-click it and choose Advanced Preferences
Right-click the Citrix Workspace icon to open its menu, then click Advanced Preferences.
Open High DPI, then pick the operating system option
The Advanced Preferences window lists several settings. Click High DPI. ("DPI" just refers to how large and how sharp things look on your screen.)
A window titled Scale the session for high resolution? opens with three choices. Select the third one, Let the operating system scale the resolution.
Save, then restart your Citrix session
Click Save (marked 5 in the picture above). Then save any open work, log out of Citrix, and sign back in.
What happens next
When you sign back in, Citrix will scale along with your Windows display settings. Text and buttons inside your session should now be the same size as the rest of your desktop.
From this point on, changing your Windows display scaling also changes the size of everything in Citrix. To adjust it, right-click your desktop, choose Display settings, and pick a different percentage under Scale — then restart your Citrix session again to see the change.
If text still looks too small
| What you're seeing | What to try |
|---|---|
| Nothing changed at all | Confirm you fully logged out of the Citrix session and signed back in, rather than just closing the window. |
| Still small, but sharper | Raise your Windows display scaling: right-click the desktop → Display settings → Scale. Try 125% or 150%, then restart your Citrix session. |
| Text looks blurry now | Go back into High DPI and try the Yes option instead. Some monitor and resolution combinations look better this way. |
| No Citrix icon in the tray | Citrix Workspace may not be running. Open it from the Start menu, then check the tray again. |
