How To Merge Duplicate Patient Charts
If your practice has inadvertently created 2 charts for the same patient this is how you can merge them to create 1 chart for that patient.
- Look up the patient in the Patient List on the schedule screen and write down the ID #s related to the patient.
- Click on the first patient's name to highlight that patient.
- Click on the F5 function Key to open that patient's Demographics Tab.
* Please note: you can also Right Click on the patient's name and choose Open Demographics, or double left click to open the chart and then click on the patient's Demographics Tab at the top of the screen to access the tab.
- Click File at the top of the Demographics window.
- Choose the option to Merge This Patient With Another from the dropdown.
- Enter your Administrative Options password in the Password field and Click OK.
- Enter the patient ID # for the second chart for the patient in the ID field under the Patient List at the top of the window.
- Ensure all of the merged data is correct and click the Merge button.
- The patient's will now be merged, and all data is combined. The first patient chart will be inactivated.
